Despite a modest increase in domestic production, total pork available for U.S. consumption is expected to remain below year-ago levels in Q3 2026.
Total supply for domestic consumption: 4.95 billion lbs
Domestic production: 6.77 billion lbs
Imports: 412 million lbs
Exports: 2.34 billion lbs
The growth in exports continues to be driven primarily by Japan and Mexico, while shipments to China have remained relatively stable at approximately 22 million lbs per month.
As exports continue to absorb a significant share of U.S. production, domestic availability remains constrained despite higher production and imports.
At EMEAT Consulting, we continuously monitor the key supply and demand drivers shaping U.S. pork markets to help businesses anticipate price movements and make better-informed purchasing and sales decisions.
