Small businesses in South Carolina tell WBTV that they’re feeling the impacts of increasing prices, and are watching tariffs closely.
WBTV’s Rachel Richardson recently checked in with three small business owners in South Carolina amid some economic uncertainty. Bush-N-Vine Farm in York, Black’s Peaches in York, and The Meat Center in Lancaster all say they’ve seen costs go up, and are watching tariffs closely.
“If I wanted to be a millionaire, I wouldn’t have been a farmer,” said Sam Hall, one owner of Bush-N-Vine Farm.
The three businesses say they’ve seen costs go up -- some saying by as much as 30% to 40%. The businesses have to pass some costs on to customers, even though they don’t want to.
“Everybody knows costs have gone up,” said Brian Everall, owner of The Meat Center.
According to Beth Black White, one owner of Black’s Peaches, costs have increased among “bags, to-go plates, even from drinks, to the containers that the farmers put their milk in.“
The owner of the Meat Center in Lancaster is known for his reasonably priced selection -- and so are York County’s local farms. York farm Bush-N-Vine has been impacted by tariffs, the owner told us.
