A livestock market advisor says beef and dairy producers should expect a strong beef market for at least another year.
Matt Wolf from Ever.ag tells Brownfield the size of the cattle herd hasn’t changed much, and cattle prices are significantly higher than they were last year. “You know, comfortably, we’re sitting in the 350s, 355s, and the deferred out into 2026 are trading in the 340s right now so overall, these are fantastic prices that cattlemen and your dairy farmers are able to take advantage of.”
Wolf says carcass weights are around fifty pounds heavier now than they were two years ago. “Do the math. When we kill about 550-thousand animals per week, synthetically, we don’t need to see our cattle supplies get back to where they were last year just because of the excess weight we’re adding to these animals now.”
