JBS provided its latest earnings update with its fiscal second quarter results for 2026, as the company sees some solid numbers in certain sectors but still challenging marks with the difficulties of the cattle supply cycle in the United States.
In the fiscal second quarter, ending June 30, 2026, net sales for the quarter increased by 14% to $29.3 billion compared to the second quarter of 2025.
The company reported a net loss of $102 million compared to a net profit of $528 million in the same time last year.
JBS North America Beef
JBS’ North American Beef segment reported net revenue of $7.77 billion during the quarter, up 14.2% from the same quarter in 2025. However, the analysis from JBS explained the difficult margins for the business in the North American market.
In the near future, the United States is looking to help with its cattle numbers by reopening three ports of entry from Mexico.
“Cattle from Mexico have represented about 5% of US slaughter, so restoring that flow is very meaningful for the industry,” said Wesley Batista Filho, incoming global chief executive officer of JBS. “We also expect many of the first cattle crossing the border to be heavier than what they used to be prior to the border closure. That should allow them to reach slaughter weight much sooner than normal.”
Another part of the beef business changing during the last quarter is JBS’ decision to close its processing plant in Souderton, Pa., and a case-ready facility in Memphis, Tenn.
