JBS Foods Canada is investing approximately $90 million into its Brooks, Alberta, plant. The expansion includes a new patty processing line, and a state-of-the-art fulfillment center.
By ramping up production, JBS Canada will produce an additional seven million kilograms of beef patties annually. This increase will primarily supply restaurants in Western Canada.
The Honourable Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta and MLA for Brooks-Medicine Hat, emphasizes the significance of JBS Canada’s expansion.
“JBS is a cornerstone in Brooks, creating jobs and ensuring Alberta’s world-renowned beef reaches millions of appreciative diners. Our local and provincial economies are thriving,” says Premier Smith.
The project is underway, with completion expected by fall 2025. It will generate 24 permanent jobs, and 170 temporary positions, bolstering the local workforce.
In 2023, Alberta’s beef production reached nearly one million tonnes, contributing to meat product sales totaling $12.2 billion.
