Beef processor FPL Food LLC announced plans for a significant investment in its beef processing facility in Augusta, Ga., with a reduction in operations starting in November.
Full operations are expected to resume by early 2028 following the comprehensive renovation project.
The company stated the reduction in operations would impact 183 positions. FPL confirmed affected employees will be invited to apply for available positions as full operations resume in the future.
FPL plans to support its premium beef programs, along with grinding and value-added operations.
“As the beef industry navigates the current cattle cycle, we believe this is the right time to make a meaningful investment in the future of our Augusta operation,” said Francois Leger, chief executive officer and founder of FPL Food. “This facility has been an important part of our company for more than two decades, and this project reflects our commitment to its future and to the customers, producers and partners who have grown alongside us.”
