Beef prices will remain high in 2026

As the meat and dairy industries step into 2026, changing consumer habits, pricing pressures and technological shifts are expected to influence how products are produced, marketed and sold. Industry analysts point to evolving wellness priorities, supply constraints and the growing role of artificial intelligence in shopping decisions as key factors shaping the year ahead.

Midan Marketing has released its annual outlook, “Top 10 Meat and Dairy Industry Trends to Watch in 2026,” outlining developments the firm said are likely to affect the protein sector. The report is based on consumer research, market analysis and industry monitoring. This year’s edition includes expanded coverage of the dairy industry.

“These trends reflect where shoppers are headed and what will matter most as they choose their proteins,” said Kerry Beauchemin, director of brand strategy and insights at Midan Marketing.

Among the trends identified is a shift in how sustainability is viewed across the meat and dairy supply chain. Practices such as methane reduction, carbon tracking and responsible sourcing are increasingly treated as baseline expectations rather than distinguishing features, according to the report.

The report also highlights continued consumer interest in the role of protein in health and wellness. Meat remains a primary source of protein in many diets, while dairy products continue to be associated with nutritional benefits tied to strength and metabolic health. The Trump administration released new dietary guidelines on Wednesday, encouraging Americans to eat more protein and full-fat dairy while cutting back on ultra-processed foods and added sugars.
