Alabama processor to build new plant

New meat processor Maximus Meats recently announced plans to build a plant in Summerdale, Ala.

The company said the project cost is $11 million and will create more than 60 jobs.

The new 29,000-square-foot facility will support wholesale beef and pork products meat and include a retail store where customers can purchase items. The project is scheduled for completion later this year

“Maximus Meats’ investment in Baldwin County represents a significant boost to our region’s economy,” said Lee Lawson, president and chief executive officer of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. “This project will generate quality jobs, competitive wages, and substantial capital investment, further strengthening our local food production industry. The company’s commitment to sourcing and processing locally will provide long-term benefits for our agricultural community and workforce.”
